About Jason Stropko

Jason Stropko is a San Francisco based artist and glass maker who has worked with glass since 2003. He has traveled abroad to the UK, Venice and Murano to research and study glass making techniques. Was visiting artist at BGC Studio in Bangkok, Thailand and artist in residence at Castle Fine Arts Foundry and Pilkingtons Word of Glass, in North West, England. Jason is an accomplished artist and loves drawing trees which he sees as related to his developing body of Nuts & Seeds in glass.

In addition to making his own work, Jason regularly enjoys collaborating with other makers and takes on commissions with interior designers, making glass pieces to their specifications. This could be a series of vase shapes, custom lighting projects or signature signage for a company's new office space.

Jason hosts the finest, most engaging glass blowing experiences in the San Francisco Bay Area and hosts larger off site events for local businesses.

Artist Statement

At the heart of my practice I have always been interested in form. I continue to explore formal ideas rooted in the past but influenced by my life experience and a desire to create a visually poetic environment.

I am greatly inspired by nature, especially small details and subtle characteristics in texture, hue and pattern. I am interested in the symbolism and significance of the objects I make and hope that others receive them and imbue them their own meanings.
