About Michiko Thompson

I am primarily a stained glass and mixed media (ceramics, wood) artist living in the Sunset district of San Francisco. Weaving together my Native American roots (Nii Mii Puu, aka Nez Perce), West Coast interior design aesthetics, and electronic music culture, I strive to create designs that are both organic, modern, and functional. My repertoire includes flat windows, mirrors, 3D wall installations, terrariums, lamps, sconces, chandeliers, jewelry, shelves and vases and now fused glass vessels. I have done many commissions for individuals and for business in San Francisco and around the world. My larger scale installations can be seen at festivals such as the Sunset Campout, Dirty Bird Campout, and Symbiosis. I have a longtime love affair with music, nature, art and the community surrounding those elements within our society.

As Covid-19 has ravaged the economy, most people must tighten their belts and therefore cannot afford to buy art or home decor. Many of the individuals and business' I typically do commissions for are closed down. As a self-employed artist with no access to unemployment yet, this has been very challenging to my business
