About David Mason

I'm a self taught artist that created my own style of realism. I use a combination of medias, ranging from oil pastel, color pencil, graphite, ink, metallic gold and silver leaf, acrylic. Each image sort of gets its own recipe depending on the look I'm after. My background is in photography, self taught as well. Composition, color, texture, detail are always in practice. Currently I use my camera as my sketchbook. All my drawings are done by hand, now considered old school. A sense of craftsmanship and quality is necessary for each piece. I like and look for a range of subject matter.

For the last several months I've been scheduling studio visits, making sales, gaining momentum, working a couple of bigger sales. Now all of that is flat for now and no idea of how it will revive? I try and work every day I'm focused and have been producing my best work. Definitely frustrating, but trying to figure out what the next new step is? I'm a parent, 8 year old daughter, and trying to figure out the new balances of school at home and continuing to set a good example as a working artist.
